During the 1830's, slaves used to play a lot of instruments such as the flute, guitar, and drums. Many believe that the banjo was created by the slaves during the 1840's. Of course, these instruments are very common in the music production today, including the banjo, which means the slaves were able to influence the music that we listen to today.
